I have been contemplating taking on an Akita for a year now and, thanks to your site, I'm close to making a decision. It is very informative.
Just one query, I have mild Asthma ...what do you think? Good or bad idea to take one of these gorgeous bears on? I've just had a friend's 18 month old pitbull for three weeks with no issues! My partner and I had an Akita as a pet she was black and White named Sha she was our beautiful bear. We lost her to diabetes in August 2006 and still miss her very much she was only 9. We will get another but at present our lives are a bit unsettled having just returned from Gran Canaria. Your litter will be a bit to soon for us, but will continue looking with pleasure at your web and when the time for us is right hopfully you will be planning another litter.

At first look, akitas look very similar to Alaskan Malamutes, in terms of their stance and the way they hold themselves; which rekindled my wanting of another spitz dog, since the death of my beloved Alaskan Malamute last year. Your site, and your wonderful detailed descriptions of your dogs and the breed overall has made me realise that once I have finally moved out, got a viable job, and have enough funds, I am sure to be aquiring one of these amazingly splendid dogs.
Who knows, in several years I could even be buying one from you!
